Astrakhan region and RUSNANO agreed on strategic cooperation

Today in Moscow, RUSNANO and Astrakhan region signed an agreement on strategic cooperation, which provides for joint efforts to promote and support innovative nanotechnology companies in the region. The document in the Moscow International Open Innovations Forum was signed by the Astrakhan Region Governor Alexander Zhilkin, Chairman of the Board MC "RUSNANO" Anatoly Chubais and CEO of Infrastructure and Educational Programs Andrey Svinarenko.

Participants in the agreement will jointly develop innovation infrastructure of the Astrakhan region, stimulate demand for nanotech products, contribute to promoting regional industrial innovation projects using products of RUSNANO portfolio companies and independent companies.

"We plan to create a full infrastructure of nano-industry in the Astrakhan region. This includes not only the construction of new enterprises, but also staff training, as well as commercialization of promising scientific developments in the initial phase, for which RUSNANO is ready to consider the possibility of opening a Nanotechnology Center in the region. This agreement sets the dynamics of development of our cooperation", - Anatoly Chubais noted during the signing ceremony.

Government of the Astrakhan region will promote nanotechnology products, energy-efficient solutions and innovative technologies in capital construction and housing and communal services, energy and transport. Particular attention will be paid to the use of innovative technologies and materials, including nanotechnology products, in the construction of facilities in the special economic zone "Lotos". "Nanotechnology will bring real economic benefits to the region. They, in particular, will help us to reduce energy losses in housing and increase the service life of road surfaces. Thanks to the fruitful cooperation with RUSNANO, Astrakhan region will become even more attractive for innovative companies", - Aleksandr Zhilkin said.

The regional authorities will explore the possibility of co-financing investment projects with priority for the region, support the interaction of innovative companies with potential business partners among the portfolio companies of RUSNANO.

An important part of the agreement is raising awareness of the inhabitants of the region of nanotechnologies and their applications, their commercialization experience. It is planned to attract nanotechnology companies of the region to the development of professional standards and educational programs.

RUSNANO will help the government and companies of the Astrakhan region to establish relations with other regions to attract co-investors and deploy nanotechnology industries. RUSNANO will provide expert support for the implementation of state programs in the sphere of innovations and will consider investing in nanotechnology companies of the Astrakhan region.

The Foundation for Infrastructure and Educational Programs was established in 2010 in accordance with the Federal Law No. 211-ФЗ "On the reorganization of the Russian nanotechnology corporation". The purpose of the Foundation is the development of innovation infrastructure in the field of nanotechnology, including the implementation of educational and infrastructure programs already started by RUSNANO.

The chairman of the supreme collegial body of the Foundation - the Supervisory Board - is the Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov. According to the charter of the Foundation, competence of the Board includes, in particular, the issues of determining the priorities of the Foundation, its strategy and budget. The chairman of the Board of the Foundation, which is a collegial management body, is the Board Chairman of LLC "MC RUSNANO" Anatoly Chubais, Director General of the Foundation is Andrey Svinarenko.
