At the Open Innovations Forum was Discussed the Future of the Education System in Russia

Moscow, October 30, 2015 – The work of the fourth themed day “Education” at Open Innovations Forum and Technology Show in 2015, which takes place in the VDNKh is ended. On this day, experts from all over the world discussed the formation of the new global educational platforms, online learning and the design of modern educational products.

The events of the "Education" day were attended by Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov, Director of the Department for Government Policy in Higher Education, Alexander Sobolev, principal education architect in Intel Corporation Robert Fogel, the president of the American Councils for International Education, Dan Davidson, Professor of Economics, co-founder of Roubini Global Economics, Nouriel Roubini, the head of Russian and foreign universities.

Dmitry Livanov, speaking at a discussion in the format of Open Talk, drew attention of the session participants to that fact that innovations in education do not affect the essence of the educational system. Although the role of teachers is chancing, and the teachers are not monopoly carriers and translators of knowledge any more, but the educators are becoming the navigators in the ocean of knowledge and information, assistants in building an educational path for their students and help them in self-determination and in finding the motivation for learning.

Digital technology will inevitably enter the educational system, complementing the traditional education system. "The world in which we live is a digital world, so modern training should use digital technologies in the context of self-training, whether they are practical or theoretical," said Alexander Sobolev, speaking at the session "National Platform of Open Education. Is it possible to import-substitute Coursera?»

This online education has become one of the most important debates of the fourth day of the Forum. "I believe that today we are on the threshold of a new revolution in education. This revolution is connected with the formation of online education», - Strategic Director of Knewton, Fernando Rodriguez-Villa says with confidence. Another important topic was the future of the universities “it is a need to reconsider the principles of the university ", general director of Minerva Project Ben Nelson added.

On the fourth day of the Forum, interview with Nouriel Roubini was summed up "The future of the labor market: Globalization and Inequality", devoted to the way how the key technological trends and automation of production will continue to influence the development of the world economy. "If you have skills that cannot be replaced by machines, you will be in demand", - said the expert confidently.

Bright events of the Technology Show became themed tours to the Skolkovo stand, Bala Robots, "Demonstration Laboratory work on the program of scientific and engineering classes MIXER" educational projects at the stand of the Moscow Government and the Youth Zone program.
