Aubrey de Grey Lecture: Ending Aging
Aubrey de Grey, the man who is convinced we could defeat aging if only we funded this area of research properly, will give a free lecture on October 30 at 19:00 at the
Multimedia Art Museum as part of the Open Innovations Forum and Technology Show.
De Grey is the co-founder and Chief Science Officer of the SENS Research Foundation, which is developing strategies to fight aging (SENS stands for Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence). De Grey is also the author of the popular science book Ending Aging, which takes a detailed look at how we can achieve total victory over the aging process by medical means in the next few decades.
The lecture will look at the achievements of modern gerontology, which have cast doubt on the idea that aging is inevitable, and it will highlight innovative technologies that will help human beings make a radical breakthrough toward the goal of eternal youth. Is immortality possible, or even desirable? How soon will it become technically achievable?
Advance registration is required to attend.
The lecture will be held in English with simultaneous interpreting. A passport must be provided as collateral in order to borrow a headset.
The event is supported by the
Polytechnic Museum and the 360° International Film Festival of Science and Technology as part of the Open Innovations Forum and Technology Show.
